Our quality standards have been inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and they publish inspection reports on their findings, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

They use Key Lines of Enquiry (KLoE) to determine the quality of the service being provided to establish if the service is SAFE, EFFECTIVE, CARING, RESPONSIVE and WELL LED. In our recent Birmingham inspection report we were scored as follows:

  • Is the service safe?                   GOOD
  • Is the service effective?          GOOD
  • Is the service caring?              GOOD
  • Is the service responsive?     GOOD
  • Is the service well-led?           GOOD

The CQC's stated role is to make sure that hospitals, care homes, dental and general practices and other care services in England provide people with safe, effective and high-quality care, and to encourage them to improve. It carries out this role through checks it carries out during the registration process all new care services must complete, inspections and monitoring of a range of data sources that can indicate problems with services.

Part of the commission's remit is protecting the interests of people whose rights have been restricted under the Mental Health Act.

FEEDBACK FROM A SERVICE USER TO AN INSPECTOR

One care staff member told us

“It’s absolutely great management, I have an annual review and they come out and chat.”

REPORT QUOTE FROM CQC INSPECTOR

“Staff and people using the service felt they benefited from the service being relatively small. People and staff said the provider took a “hands on approach” to the running of the business and they could discuss anything with them. They felt this contributed to the people using the service receiving good quality care”.”
